After 8 pairs of heated gloves you ultimately end up here with the Capstone
December 2, 2020
They are slightly overpriced but you do get what you pay for,.
My Capstone's are two seasons old. I got them direct from Outdoor Research. But I have purchased heated gloves and equipment from the Warming Store. They are good people.
The Capstone's have a very important feature that you will not find in 95% of all other heated gloves. They can function as a windproof, insulated glove.
That's important as batteries, connections, switches, and wires fail. Usually they fail 15 minutes into an hour long activity or 30 minutes from getting back to your house or lodge. I've been wearing heated outdoor gear for since 2005. I've experienced plenty of failures.
You can read 100 reviews about heated gloves. They display fancy pictures of heating areas. Most heated gloves work so long as the battery is good. But when the battery goes dry that's it.
A lot of gloves heat the fingers but fail to heat the thumb area.
If you need "HIGH" heat because it's really cold then you pretty much need a dual battery or large single battery over 3,000 mah.
As I said batteries fail. I've seen switches fail. My hands have been frozen too many times. Anytime I need to be sure I wear the Capstones. I have 8 other pair of heated gloves that basically only get used at home for cleaning snow off the driveway.
I live in Michigan. I've been riding a road bike year round for 41 years. . If I'm out on my road bike with temps 35 and less than I have the Capstones. The Capstones use two batteries in every glove. And, and, and the gloves are insulated with goretex so they could function if there's a glitch. That said it's the only glove that I've owned where the batteries have never failed.
My first pair of Capstone's had a problem. My right glove was improperly built and the heating wire was improperly placed. That led to finishing one 90 minute trek on my bike with a heat blister between two fingers.
But these are Outdoor Research products. They have a lifetime guarantee. When I notified them they sent me a brand new pair of gloves.
Hopefully you can get the Capstones on sale. It's a great heated glove.
