HeatTrak's Residential Snow-Melting Mats melt snow on contact to prevent snow and ice accumulation on walkways and stairs around your home. Made of customized thermoplastic material, the mats are portable and are designed to be left outside all winter long! The HeatTrak mats generate heat to melt snow at a rate of 2" per hour leaving the pathway to your home clean and clear 24/7. The Residential Snow-Melting Walkway Mat and Residential Snow-Melting Stair Mat can be used independently or interconnected with one another to create a continuous system of snow melting mats. With the mats' built in watertight connector cables, you can connect Residential Mats to create your perfect snow melting solution - all on a single plug!
Each Residential Walkway Mat and Residential Stair Mat comes with its own built in watertight connector cables. A customer can use the watertight connector cables to connect the mats to other Residential Mats or to a Power Unit. Every group of Residential Mats requires one GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) Power Unit to connect the system to an electrical outlet. A customer can connect up to 5 Residential Walkway Mats, 15 Residential Stair Mats or any combination thereof (up to 12 amps) on a single Power Unit.
Living in the mountains we get a bit of snow or ice every few days. We have many steps to our office and and front door (19 total) and both my husband and I have taken some falls on them. These treads and mats have been invaluable in ensuring that does not happen again. They are expensive so I just purchased four treads and one walk mat last year. They worked so well I got them for our offices this year. For really deep snows - over 12" - I turn them on end and use a shovel as usual - then put them back down. If you don't do that they ice up on the edges (again only with deep snows). I only gave four stars because one additional option is needed - a small mat made like the "walk" mat with connections on both sides. For me, I have steps that go up 4 treats - then a small landing and then more steps up again. The smal mats do not work here because they have only one connection and the larger "walk" mats are just too long. Great product - expensive - but worth the safety!
ProsWork great - make steps very safe!
ConsNeed smaller "walk" mat with two connections for stair landing.
