Surface cooling depends primarily on how much surface area you can cover, where more is better. However, there are a few small areas on the body which provide unique responses to cooling. The back of your neck is one of those areas. The palms of your hands is another. *Read more about palm cooling in our "Cooling Glove" section.

Cooling the base of the head provides therapeutic relief from the pain of headaches and migraines.

* TO PROTECT THE HEALTH/HYGIENCE OF OUR CUSTOMERS, WE DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS FOR COOLING HEADBANDS.

Coolture designer Van DiBernardo once enjoyed a fulfilling career designing for DKNY. His work found him traveling to production facilities in Italy, Spain, France, and Brasil.

Today Van travels the city blocks of Buffalo, New York, where he manages the side effects of Multiple Sclerosis. His passion for design plays second only to his passion for helping others. So after years of wearing industrial and medical cooling vests to prevent his side effects from worsening, Van designed a cooling solution suited for anyone challenged by heat. He asked himself, "Why not high-tech performance fabrics? Why not detailed styling? Why not create cooling apparel that rises above industrial and medical aesthetics?" The answer to those questions became the first chapter of Coolture.

So how did a great idea turn into a great company?

Luanne DiBernardo set out to find the answers to her brother's questions. Wanting to learn more about core body temperature cooling, she was led to Dr. Thomas Stewart, who holds five patents in the therapeutic control of patient temperature, and is renowned for his advances in wound care. Unbeknownst to Luanne, Dr. Stewart had just left Stryker Medical as VP of Clinical Affairs, closing a 30-year chapter as a leader in the global medical device industry. Intrigued by the concept of bringing quality cooling solutions to the public, Dr. Stewart was intrigued by the opportunity to pioneer Coolture as a leader in lifestyle cooling solutions. With his proven successes, including former President & COO of Gaymar Industries, Dr. Stewart was a natural to helm Coolture. And so began Chapter Two.

In July 2012, Coolture rolled out the first style-conscious cooling vest during one of the hottest summers in recent U.S. history. Runners, golfers, and survivors of chronic illness were the first to respond, despite the young company's quiet launch. Today begins Chapter Three, with you a part of our ongoing story.
